Actun Tunichil Muknal

The Ultimate Jungle and Cave Adventure!

ATM CaveAfter a 45 minute drive, we then hike through lush jungles within the Tapir Mountain Reserve before arriving at the caves archaeologist base camp. Here we have lunch before gearing up with helmets and lights and then take a short swim into the cave.

Once inside, witness centuries old stalactites and stalagmites rock formations and Mayan pottery, undisturbed after hundreds of years. On your journey we will reveal ancient passage ways, stories of Mayan Gods, skulls and evidence of a Mayan princess burial scene. This adventure is a history lesson of a lifetime. All of our guides are fully trained and licensed.

 
Baboon Sanctuary
The Baboon Sanctuary, near Bermudian Landing is located on a 20 mile stretch of the Belize river, 27 miles from Belize City.This community sanctuary protects the Black Howler Monkeys which are called "baboons" locally. The sanctuary was created when the landowners came together in the region and began following a plan for using their land, the agreement was to leave bits of the forest standing for the monkeys to flourish. This sanctuary offers an amazing opportunity to view these unique monkeys in their natural habitat. Know for their 'howl' they can be heard for miles around.
 
Black Hole Drop
This adventure starts off with a drive down the Hummingbird highway, the most scenic highway in Belize, en route to Caves Branch.The tour starts with a vigorous hike into the jungle to the edge of the sink whole.The fully trained cave guides at Caves Branch rig a system of rappelling ropes for the decent into the basin below.The fully trained caving guides then rig a system of rappelling ropes for your decent to the basin below. The first 10 feet provides the adrenaline, the next 200 feet provides an unforgettable experience and sights to behold, the last 100 feet takes you down through the rainforest canopy.  The sink hole is not actually black, but you can't see the bottom from where you start.Then a return hike out of the foothills. This expedition is not for the faint of heart and all participants must be relatively fit.
 
Caracol

Caracol Maya RuinsOn the way to Caracol we pass through the Mountain Pine Ridge, before reaching the pristine jungle that surrounds the Caracol Archeological site. First stop is the museum which houses many interesting artifacts including a newly discovered ritual mask, still in mint condition.

Next we ascend to the top of "Caana", a massive ceremonial pyramid, which stands 140 feet high and is the highest manmade structure in Belize. From the top you will be taken away to ancient times with its intoxicating views. Other highlights, among the numerous excavated and partially excavated structures to explore, are the sky observatory and ball court.

Another highlight is listening to story of Caracol warriors trekking through the jungle to Tikal, 60 miles away, and then defeating them in an epic battle, as depicted by hieroglyphic inscriptions & cryptic glyphs etched in stone stelae, recovered from the site.

Afterwards, time permitting, we stop off at Rio Frio Cave in the Mountain Pine Ridge. The cave has a sandy beach surrounded by boulders the size of rooms with a clear mountain steam running through. The cave is one-half mile long with enormous openings at each end, which makes flashlights unnecessary to view the cave.

Big Rock FallsWe then move on to Rio On Pools, where one shall be privy to granite and limestone rock formations, cascading waterfalls and wonderful swimming. Other options include a visit to 1000 foot falls or Big Rock falls.

 
El Pilar

Image Image Located about 12 miles from San Ignacio town near Bullet Tree Falls village.  Travel through all weather roads deep into the jungle crossing over rivers into the Yalbac hills to get to this site well known for its birdwatching.  El Pilar is one of Belize’s largest Mayan sites covering about 50 acres of jungle, there are many large temples on site the tallest of which is about 70 feet high. 

 
Horseback Riding

Jaguar Paw Cave Tubing / Ziplining

Cave Tubing

Both Ziplining and Cave tubing can be done together or on their own .

This is the one everyone raves about! Following a 45 minute jungle trek, enter the river and tube for a mile and a half, in and out of 3 river-cave-systems. Along the way, witness majestic stalactite and stalagmite formations.

Lunch is provided for this relaxing trip. You have to experience this 3 hour float to fully appreciate it. Ziplining is an experience you won't soon forget. You'll glide along a steel cable at eye level with the treetops of the rainforest at a smooth and gentle pace. The ziplining course is configured with eight separate platforms to give you a variety of perspectives on the rainforest ecosystem. The distance between the platforms ranges from 40 to 300 feet. Safety is of utmost importance, and you’ll be comforted to know that your gliding on the lines of the site with the longest and safest track record in Belize. The highly trained guides will give you a complete safety briefing and as well as get you equipped and ready for your experience.

 
Lamanai

The ancient ruins of Lamanai are not completely uncovered yet. As you walk around you see many temples that are uncovered and many hills that upon closer observation are temples yet to be excavated. Wildlife is abundant around Lamanai. You see and hear howler monkeys and it has been known that jaguars are nearby. This is reflected in the stories of the locals as well as the architecture.

As for the temples you do see they are amazing. The temples rise from the jungle floor to a spectacular view above the jungle canopy. The temples have many carvings into them of the jaguars and crocodiles that inhabit the New River Lagoon. In fact on one of the temples, "El Castillo", you have the ability to climb to the top at your own risk. There is a rope and very narrow, tall, steep steps leading to the view of jungle. It is approximately 100 feet to the top resulting in a breathtaking view.


 
Mountain Pine Ridge

River Canoeing

CanoeingOption 1- We drive from the village up the Benque highway, passing farms and orange groves before putting in the Macal river. Paddling slowly downstream, our knowable guide will point out the different flora and fauna, birds and other wildlife along the way, including 3 foot Iguanas perched high above the jungle canopy. Canoe through peaceful rock canyons and just relax and take in this picturesque, adventurous tour.

Option 2 - ( Normally done after a Horseback Riding tour)

We take you across to our sister ranch Carmelita Farm. From here canoe down the scenic Belize River, taking in exotic birds and giant Iguanas and other wildlife. Along the way, we pass by a hand-cranked ferry and several small villages. We also stop off for a swim and have a chance to view the fruit fish, which tourists often mistake for Piranhas.

 
Sink Hole
Sink Hole Full Day Tour (Horseback riding) Full Day Horse Back Riding up in the Yalbac hills area onwards toward a natural sink whole deep in the jungle.  This is the perfect adventure for avid horseback riders who want to ride deep into the jungle’s of Belize.  
 
The Lost Valley

Lost Valley of the MayasAfter a 40-minute drive up the Chiquibul trail and through the picturesque village of El Progresso, we hike about 10 minutes through the jungle passing two un-excavated Mayan grave mounds. We then arrive at some massive limestone formations towering 40 to 100 feet high, which are known as the "Lost Valley of the Mayas". Along the way, we encounter caves full of untouched Mayan artifacts and pottery.

You'll also be privy to viewing a Mayan ritual chamber and a discussion chamber with the seats in their original positions. Here you can view the natural orchid garden and an ancient Mayan cooking area. Then while making your way to a hidden opening in the limestone, you'll see protruding from the rock formation, what appears to be a dinosaur skull. Throughout this tour we'll point out the local plants the Mayans used for medicines, food and offerings.
